Dona Ana County commissions will consider a Tuesday proposal to raise sales taxes to pay for expanded bus service.
The aim of supporters is to get the measure on the November ballot for voters to ultimately decide.
The proposed hike would be used to fund expanded bus service throughout Dona Ana County.
Commissioners on Tuesday are expected to vote on whether to place the proposal on a June 24 county commission agenda. At that hearing, commissioners would decide whether to place the tax increase on the ballot for the November general election.
The proposed hike would add extra 25 cent charge to a $100 purchase of most goods and services.
