Hondo, New Mexico – HONDO, N.M. (KRWG) Fire crews in southeast New Mexico are nearing full containment of the Donaldson Fire near Hondo.
The blaze was 95 percent contained as of Thursday night.
It has charred more than 101,000 acres since it began June 28th. Authorities say the fire was started by lightning.
Crews report excellent progress Thursday throughout the entire fire perimeter.
They continue working to prevent erosion from summer rains while repairing any damage from fire and suppression activities.
There still is no estimate for full containment.
