Cruz Addresses Conservative Summit

Senator Ted Cruz (R) Texas

An address by firebrand U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz keynotes the closing day of an influential conservative group's national summit.

The tea party darling from Houston will address the Americans for Prosperity gathering in Dallas on Saturday. The organization is the powerful political arm of the billionaire Koch brothers.

Cruz is frequently the undisputed star of grassroots gatherings around the country, but he has to share the spotlight this time.

On Friday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky spoke, as did Indiana Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana. All, like Cruz, are possible 2016 GOP presidential hopefuls.

Perry has made no secret that he is considering a repeat White House run after his short-lived 2012 bid. Cruz, meanwhile, says "time will tell" if he becomes a presidential candidate.
