Cyberattack On Albuquerque Police Website

Albuquerque police say that the department's website is down due to a cyberattack.

Department spokesman Simon Drobik said the Albuquerque police website was struck just before 11 a.m. Sunday and remains down. Drobik says investigators believe the website disruption is due to a cyberattack.

The attack comes after a group reported to be the international cyber-activist hackers Anonymous last week posted a YouTube video threatening a cyberattack against the city Sunday over a police shooting earlier this month that left a homeless man dead. The shooting, which was caught out video and sparked a federal investigation, has garnered protests and calls for more reforms within the Albuquerque Police Department.

Drobik says the police website under attack isn't connected to any critical services and officials are working to restore the site.
