DACC Las Cruces Teams With International Virtual Reality Initiative

Las Cruces – VR First, an International Virtual Reality (VR) Initiative has announced plans to collaborate with twelve academic institutions around the world including the Creative Media Technology Program (CMT) at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) as the demand for dedicated VR learning facilities at colleges and universities continues to grow.

DACC is the only community college named in this group to partner with VR First.

“This is great news for our students and our college,” said Matt Byrnes, Director of the CMT program. “We will now have the newest equipment for our students to work on using top of the line products such as CRYENGINE and state of the art VR hardware.”  

VR First has now formed partnerships with 26 colleges and universities since launching at the start of this year. Every VR First partner institution will initiate a VR First Lab on their campus, giving students access to the latest VR development tools and guidance from a network of business and technology leaders.

Ian Snyder, DACC lead game design faculty member has already begun the incorporation of 3D VR technology into his modeling and animation, game tools and techniques and critical game studies class. Future plans include 360 interactive video and games.

·       Hamburg University (Germany)

·       Heidelberg University (Germany)

·       HTW Berlin - University of Applied Sciences (Germany)

·       International School Of Design – Rubika (France)

·       Middle East Technical University (Turkey)

·       NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands)

·       Sogang University (South Korea)

·       State University of New York at Oswego (USA)

·       VIGAMUS Academy (Italy)
