Dallas Mayor Running For US Senate

Texas – Former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert is running for the U. S. Senate.

Leppert, who stepped down as mayor this week, announced Friday he had formed a federal committee to run for the seat currently held by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, who says she is leaving office in 2012.

Leppert, barred from running for other offices while serving as mayor, said he would bring a "unique conservative approach" to Washington and vowed to fight tax increases and fight wasteful spending if elected.
