Deadline Looms For NM Big Game Hunting Application

KRWG News – SANTA FE, N.M. (krwg) Sportsmen face a deadline of Monday to apply for a license to hunt elk and other big game in New Mexico for the 2011-2012 seasons.

The Department of Game and Fish said it expects more than 130,000 applications for about 62,500 licenses for elk, deer, antelope, bighorn sheep, ibex, Barbary sheep and javelina.

Applications are accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday through the agency's online system or for paper applications delivered to the department's office in Santa Fe. Other paper applications must be postmarked on or before Monday.

The deadline is earlier this year, and the department said that allows hunters to take advantage of discounts if they buy combination hunting and fishing licenses.
