Deming Area Man Charged With Kidnapping

Las Cruces Police arrested a Deming area man suspected of physically assaulting a woman and refusing to allow her to leave an apartment early Thursday morning.

Edward Remondini, 25, who resides off Highway 549 east of Deming, N.M., is charged with one count of kidnapping, three counts of false imprisonment and one count of battery against a household member.

Detectives learned that Remondini and the woman got into an argument at an apartment, at 2775 N. Roadrunner Parkway, during the early-morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 21. At around 2:30 a.m. police were dispatched and the first-arriving officer could hear the couple yelling inside the apartment.

Detectives learned that the woman tried to leave the apartment more than once during the argument but each time was physically restrained by Remondini. On one occasion, the woman ran out the front door but was tackled in the parking lot and then dragged back into the apartment by Remondini.

The woman also had visible signs of bruising consistent with her allegations that Remondini pinned her down to the floor more than once. The woman’s injuries were not life threatening.

Remondini was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.
