Deming Hospital Seeks Lawsuit Dismissal

Deming – Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming wants a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit against its parent company, Community Health Systems Inc.
The U.S. government in June sued the company and its subsidiaries, including the Deming hospital, alleging violations of the federal False Claims Act.
The hospital said in a news release that it filed a motion to dismiss and will vigorously defend itself.
The release says hospital officials will not discuss the litigation nor the dismissal motion.
The hospital says the allegations have nothing to do with the quality of care to patients.
The lawsuit alleges false claims for payment were submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
