Deming – Deming is promoting a walking tour of historic areas with banners hanging from light poles in the southern New Mexico community.
Banners show drawings of four historic buildings featured in Deming's walking tour, including the Deming Arts Council building.
The structure rebuilt in 1914 after a fire has a metal vault which is now used as an office.
The arts council building is listed in the state's Register of Cultural properties, along with 15 other stops on the tour.
Four of the buildings also are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The nationally listed buildings include the Deming-Luna-Mimbres Museum, which was built as an armory in 1917.
The Luna County Courthouse, built in 1910, also is on the national list.
