Light voter turnout is expected in Tuesday's primary election featuring five Democrats seeking the party's nomination to challenge Republican Gov. Susana Martinez.
Albuquerque pollster Brian Sanderoff predicts about 20 percent of eligible Democratic voters will cast ballots in the primary.
He said voter turnout won't be heavy because the gubernatorial contest has been fairly quiet and many of the statewide Democratic races are uncontested, including secretary of state and U.S. Senate. There's a two-way Democratic race for state treasurer.
Martinez is unopposed in the Republican primary.
The Democratic challengers are two-term Attorney General Gary King, Santa Fe businessman Alan Webber, former government agency administrator Lawrence Rael and state Sens. Howie Morales and Linda Lopez.
Early voting ends Saturday. Polls open at 7 a.m. on Election Day.
