Commentary: As Governor Susana Martinez leaves New Mexico for a Republican Party gala in New York, the Democratic Party of New Mexico calls on her to come clean on whether she will support Donald Trump as the Republican nominee. Trump, Cruz, and Kasich will be in attendance at the event tomorrow.
“Governor Martinez has been avoiding telling New Mexico who she’ll support for the Republican nominee for too long. And now, she will be in the same city, at the same convention as Trump,” said Debra Haaland, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “While Governor Martinez is travelling across the country to promote her own agenda, New Mexicans deserve transparency and an honest answer on whether our governor stands with Donald Trump and his offensive remarks and reckless policy positions.”
Governor Susana Martinez endorsed Marco Rubio in Florida, Rubio's home state, two weeks before he suspended his campaign, and has since dodged questions from reporters and refused to tell New Mexico who she supports for the Republican nomination.
New York is considered next major primary battlefield, and is also Donald Trump’s home state.
