Commentary:  Today, the Democratic Party of New Mexico released the following statement after presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump announced a rally in Albuquerque.

"Donald Trump's racist rhetoric and reckless policy ideas are not welcome in New Mexico. Trump's candidacy has brought the worst out in our country, and as Democrats we denounce his harmful attitudes toward our Hispanic communities, his offensive comments about women, and his outlandish policy ideas. Governor Martinez's skittish behavior about giving him her support is a clear indication of how divisive his candidacy has been. Our country does not need Donald Trump in the White House." said Debra Haaland Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

Last month shortly after Ted Cruz left the race, the New Mexico GOP announced they will be backing Trump, indicating that Republican candidates across New Mexico will be following Trump’s lead.

Governor Susana Martinez still avoids answering reporters’ questions and continues to hide from New Mexicans on her support for the Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.

New Mexico Democrats continue to hold Republican candidates in the state accountable by ensuring New Mexico voters know if Republican candidates in the state stand with their presumptive nominee, Donald Trump.
