Democrats Say They Agree With Trump (On One Thing): Martinez Isn't Doing Her Job

dpnm.net

Commentary:  After Donald Trump criticized Governor Martinez for the poor job she's doing, during his rally in Albuquerque, the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) released the following statement.

Governor Martinez did not attend the Trump rally in Albuquerque, mentioning she was too busy. Governor Martinez was not too busy however, to attend events stumping for Marco Rubio in Florida, supporting Republicans in Nebraska and Missouri, or to attend a GOP Gala in New York City in the last few months.

"It's true. Governor Martinez is not doing her job. Her job is to make sure New Mexico prospers, and all we've seen from her administration are attacks on our immigrant communities, a dismal jobs record, and a slew of embarrassing headlines--not unlike Donald Trump if you ask me. Under Governor Martinez, New Mexico ranks poorly in child well-being, unemployment, and high school graduation rates. Democrats have solutions that will create jobs, improve education, and ensure our working families have the support they need."

Under Governor Susana Martinez’s watch, New Mexico has lost jobs across the state. From more than 1,600 jobs in her harmful behavioral health shakeup to thousands of private sector jobs, Governor Martinez and Republicans’ corporate policy agenda has done little to keep jobs in New Mexico.

In addition, Governor Martinez continues to put the interests of corporations ahead of the needs of New Mexico families. Corporate tax cuts have cost New Mexico valuable revenues that could have been used for infrastructure projects, to cover the $86 million Medicaid funding gap, to improve education, and increase the economic stability for New Mexico families.
