Democrats: Trump Delivers Dangerous, Divisive Speech in Albuquerque

Commentary: The Democratic Party of New Mexico’s Chairwoman Debra Haaland  released the following statement after Donald Trump delivered a divisive speech in Albuquerque tonight:

“What we heard from Donald Trump tonight is no different than the reckless message he’s been pushing his entire campaign. The fact that the Republican Party of New Mexico, Steve Pearce, and Nora Espinoza embrace Donald Trump only speaks to their complete disregard for women, Hispanic communities, veterans, immigrants, and our economy. Republicans are desperate and all they have to show for their work is a visit from a candidate who has divided our country and pushes the extreme Republican agenda.

“Hillary Clinton has served New Mexico for years, through her work for children and families, as First Lady; and her commitment to keep our country safe as Secretary of State. New Mexico knows she will continue that effort and build an economy that works for everyone, so New Mexicans have opportunities to get and stay ahead.

“Early voting numbers show that New Mexicans aren’t buying Donald Trump's dangerous and divisive rhetoric. The Republican vision for our state and our country couldn’t be more different than Democrats’ vision, and Trump’s desperate attempt to shore up support in New Mexico won’t work. Democrats will work everyday to ensure Hillary’s message resonates in our state and we'll ensure that our voters cast their ballots for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot."
