A Las Cruces man was arrested early Tuesday morning after Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies say he fraudulently called 911 and then became uncooperative during questioning.
Deputies responded to the 3100 block of El Camino Real at about 1 a.m. when central dispatch reported receiving two phone calls from 32-year-old Christopher John Melon. Operators said Melon didn’t report any type of emergency – he allegedly just screamed obscenities.
When deputies arrived and asked Melon about the phone calls, he became uncooperative and refused to follow deputies’ instructions.
Melon was arrested and transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center where he is being held without bond on charges of resisting or obstructing and disorderly conduct. Melon also had an outstanding warrant for failure to pay fines.
