Deputies: NM Man In Late Wake Up Attack Arrested

A New Mexico man accused of beating his girlfriend and threatening to cut her 3-year-old daughter's throat because the girlfriend didn't wake him up in time for work has been arrested.

Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office said 35-year-old Jorge Martinez recently was arrested after a witness recognized him at a Las Cruces convenience store.

According to deputies, the victim told investigators she woke Martinez just before 6 a.m. last week to get ready for work. But Martinez reportedly became agitated that she did not wake him up in enough time to get ready.

The victim told deputies that Martinez slapped her and threatened to kill their 3-month-old son.

He is charged with false imprisonment and battery against a household member.

It was not known if he had an attorney.
