Designing Healthy Communities Presentations In Las Cruces

  As part of the City of Las Cruces’ comprehensive plan, Plan4LasCruces community engagement, there will be two presentations and one workshop with Dr. Richard Jackson and Dr. Suzanne Lennard Monday, Aug. 22.

 

The presentations will be part of the city council work session that begins at 1 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

 

Jackson will present on Designing Healthy Communities and Lennard on Planning for Intergenerational Communities.

 

Then from 6-8 p.m. at Las Cruces High School, 1755 El Paseo Rd., Jackson will present on Designing Healthy Communities and Lennard will conduct the Kid-Friendly Cities Workshop. A light meal will be provided at the evening sessions.

 

A Spanish interpreter will be present at all the free events.

 

Dr. Richard J Jackson is a professor of environmental health sciences at the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. For nine years he was director of the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health and received the Presidential Distinguished Service award.

 

Dr. Suzanne Lennard is the Co-Founder and Executive Director, International Making Cities Livable Conferences. Her studies encompass making cities “livable” for children, youth and the elderly; relationship between physical health, social health and the built environment.
