Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a Sunday evening disturbance that escalated into gunfire, leaving one man critically wounded.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 700 block of Sunny Sands in Chaparral at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The call originated as a domestic dispute, although details about the individuals involved in the dispute and the nature of the argument are unclear at this time.
Investigators with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division say a man, whose identity and age are unknown at this time, was reportedly shot in the torso during the dispute. He was flown by helicopter to an El Paso-area hospital.
The case is still an open investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
