A lawyer who crossed the Texas-Mexico border with 34 immigrants without legal documents on Monday says 25 of those remaining in custody have been transferred to a detention facility in El Paso.
Attorney David Bennion said Wednesday he was not sure whether the transfer from Laredo by Immigration and Customs Enforcement occurred late Tuesday or early Wednesday. An unaccompanied minor who crossed with the group was taken to a facility for juveniles in San Antonio.
Seven from the original group, including four minors and three parents, were paroled Tuesday. Another woman was released late Monday to seek medical care for her 4-year-old daughter.
Those being held spent years living in the U.S. after being brought to the country illegally. They are demanding they be allowed to return to the states.
