Alamogordo – The Lincoln National Forest says vandalism of a contractor's equipment forced the closure of Dry Canyon in the southern New Mexico forest's Sacramento ranger district.
The closure went into effect last Thursday and will remain in effect until further notice.
There also is no access to the Dry Canyon trailhead.
Crews will place signs about the closure at the junction of Forest Service Road 9334 and U.S. 82.
Forest officials say a contractor who has been doing work to improve recreation safety and reduce damage to resources recently reported the vandalism.
