Duplex Fire In Las Cruces

  The Las Cruces Fire Department quickly extinguished a Saturday morning fire in a duplex.

Firefighters were dispatched just after 2 a.m.  Saturday to a duplex in the 1100 block of Willow Street. The first arriving crew found a fire burning in the back of one of the units. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish and contain the fire to one of the units. Occupants inside the second unit were evacuated with no reports of injuries or fire damage to their unit.

The fire caused significant damage to the back porch, roof, and one of the bedrooms. Early damage estimates are around $30,000 with the cause still under investigation.
