Duran Names 2 To National Elections Board

By KRWG News

New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna Duran has named two people to serve on the United States Elections Commission's Standards Board.

Duran named Do a Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins, a Democrat, and New Mexico Elections Director Bobbi Shear, a Republican, to the board.

The Election Assistance Commission serves as a national clearinghouse and resource for information regarding election administration. It adopts voluntary voting system guidelines, accredits voting system testing laboratories and certifies voting equipment.

The Standards Board's duties include reviewing voting systems guidelines and the EAC's best-practice recommendations.

Each state appoints one official from each major political party to the commission. One appointment must be a local election official, and the other must be a state-level election official.
