Eighth H1N1 Death In NM

By KRWG News

New Mexico – The state Health Department says a 17-year-old girl from Chaves County has died from swine flu.

Her death Thursday marks the third death from the illness announced this week and the eighth death in New Mexico from the disease.

The Health Department said Friday that the girl did not have any known chronic health conditions and died at an Albuquerque hospital.

State Health Department spokesman Chris Minnick says the department cannot release which school the girl attended.

The other seven people who died of swine flu lived in Sierra, Bernalillo, McKinley, Los Alamos, Sandoval and Roosevelt counties. Four of them had chronic medical conditions.

Anyone who experiences shortness of breath, dehydration or decreased responsiveness should seek medical attention.
