El Paso Abortion Clinic Set To Become Texas' First To Reopen

An El Paso clinic closed by Texas' tough abortion laws is set to become the state's first to reopen since the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocked enforcement of key restrictions.

The reopening of the Reproductive Services facility would bring to 20 the number of abortion clinics in Texas, down from 41 in 2012.

An attorney for a group representing the Reproductive Services clinic said Wednesday it was only waiting on a state license.

Texas hasn't issued the license while it awaited guidance on the Supreme Court's June 29 order suspending enforcement of key parts of its abortion restrictions law.

A federal judge provided that guidance Monday, ordering the state not to enforce some of its law.

Still, there's not yet a timeframe for when the clinic's license might be issued.
