Local organizations that serve youths in the El Paso area can apply for “Summer Slide” children’s book grants that are now available from The Molina Foundation, a national nonprofit organization based in Long Beach, CA.
Nonprofit groups, community agencies and public libraries are encouraged to apply for The Foundation’s grant program that offers thousands of new children’s activity books, coloring books and work/studybooks ─ in English and Spanish ─ from a variety of publishers.
The donation program is to help provide resources to combat the summer slide that can happen when children are academically inactive during the vacation layoff from school. Books provide opportunities for families to engage together in reading and learning activities.
All applications, which are handled electronically and take only a few minutes to complete, will be reviewed by The Foundation for eligibility. If approved, The Foundation will make arrangements to have the books delivered free for pick up at a central distribution location in El Paso on Thursday, June 2.
The application deadline is 5:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, MAY 18, 2016
