El Paso Border Bust Yields $1Million Of Cocaine

A drill and a dog have helped officers at a Texas border crossing find almost 30 pounds of cocaine with a street value of nearly $1 million.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Wednesday announced a drug-sniffing dog alerted authorities to a pickup truck entering El Paso from Mexico. Officers became suspicious about something apparently hidden in the truck bed.

Officers drilled into the vehicle and recovered a white powder that tested positive for cocaine. A dozen bundles were confiscated during Tuesday's search.

Authorities detained the 19-year-old driver from El Paso on federal drug-smuggling charges.
