El Paso Company Secures Major Project

El Paso – An El Paso company has been chosen for a major federal stimulus project in New Mexico.

Licon Engineering Company of El Paso has been selected for Middle Rio Grande Flood Protection project.

The one million dollar contract using federal stimulus dollars .was granted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District.

The company will perform engineering services for the current Middle Rio Grande Flood Protection project from Albuquerque to Belen. The project will evaluate the requirements to reconstruct the levees along that portion of the river for flood prevention.

More than 1 billion dollars in funds have been awarded in Texas and New Mexico through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

According to the Act's Official Web Site, to date Texas has received $534 million dollars .with almost 515 million awarded to New Mexico.
