By KRWG News

Las Cruces – A 39-year-old Texas man has pleaded guilty to a marijuana trafficking charge during a court hearing in New Mexico.

Michael Amador of El Paso has been jailed since he was caught with more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the gas tank of his pickup on January 10. He was stopped at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint south of Alamogordo, N.M.

The U.S. Attorney for New Mexico says Amador pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in federal court in Las Cruces on Monday. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
