El Paso Passport Agency Will Host Event To Help People Apply For Passports

The summer travel season is just around the corner and many folks may be planning trips abroad. One important thing they will need for international travel is a passport. The El Paso Passport Agency is hosting a local passport day this Saturday to help people apply for U.S. Passports.

Customer service Manager, Jennifer Archibeque, with the El Paso Passport Agency says the event is to help people apply for U.S. Passports.

“We’re not normally open on a Saturday, so this is a special event where people can come in without an appointment directly to the agency. They don’t have to take their children out of school and they can apply for their U.S. Passport on that day, without an appointment and we will have all of our staff on hand to attend to them.”

Archibeque says there are some things that you need to have to apply for a passport.

“They need their original proof of U.S. Citizenship, One passport size color photo-taken in the last six months. They need to have a valid government-issued photo, and they’re form of payment in check, money order, credit card, or debit card.”

Archibeque adds that if you already have a passport, make sure you pay attention to the expiration date on it.

“One thing people don’t do is they don’t pay attention to their expiration date, and they get to the airport and then they are rushing to see us at the last minute, because their passport expired or their children’s passport expired. If they are minors fifteen and under their passports are good for five years. Sixteen and over: ten years. It’s really good to check that expiration date, because some countries won’t allow you to enter unless you have at least six months validity on that passport.”

The El Paso Passport Agency Local Passport Day is Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the El Passport Agency located at 303 N. Oregon Street, 7th Floor, El Paso, Texas 79001. You can also visit www.travel.state.gov for more information.
