El Paso Recovering From Flooding

The National Weather Service says rains that have caused some flooding in El Paso County over the last two days will continue with less force through Friday.

Meteorologist Dave Hefner says most of the rain will be west of El Paso, but occasional showers and thunderstorms are expected. He says, "We are not quite out of the woods yet."

County spokeswoman Chris Acosta said Friday that the neighborhood streets that were flooded are clearing up and that the two families that originally asked to be taken to shelters decided to stay in their flooded homes. She says the shelters remain open.

The rainstorm is part of a weather system spanning from West Texas north to Colorado, where flooding has caused at least three deaths.
