El Paso VA Appoints New Director

El Paso, Texas – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Amaral as the new Medical Center Director of the El Paso VA Health Care System.

“We are excited to bring Mr. Michael Amaral on board as the new Medical Center Director of the El Paso VA Health Care System,” said Mr. Joseph Dalpiaz, Network Director, Heart of Texas Health Care Network.  “His sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets for the health care system, the employees, volunteers and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve.  We anticipate he will arrive at the medical center within the next 45 – 60 days to begin his appointment.”

Mr. Amaral is a recent retired Army Veteran who has over 30 years dedicated service with an emphasis in health care leadership.  His recent experience prior to retirement was the Chief of Staff for William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso TX.  Prior experience includes but is not limited to: Chief of Business Operations for TRICARE Regional Office, Virginia; Director of Medical Administrations and Operations at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, as well as Department Administrator for Department of Medical also at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington DC.just to name a few.  Mr. Amaral received his MS in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University in Waco Texas and his BS from Norwich Univeristy, Vermont as a Distinguished Military Graduate.  

               

The El Paso VA Health Care System serves Veterans in far Southwest Texas and Doña Ana County, New Mexico.  The El Paso VA Health Care System includes the main health care facility located adjacent to William Beaumont Army Medical Center on Ft. Bliss, Texas, and two VA-staffed Community Based Outpatient Clinics – one in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the second in east El Paso.  The health care system provides primary and specialized ambulatory care services at its main campus with consultants and fee-basis specialists supplementing the medical staff.

Mr. Michael Amaral has an exceptional background and possesses the leadership, knowledge, and skills necessary to successfully lead the El Paso VA Health Care System into the future.
