El Paso – El Paso's water emergency appears to have passed, but the boil water order is still in effect.
An El Paso Water Utilities statement says stringent water use restrictions will be lifted Monday night
Mayor John Cook had issued a water emergency on Sunday to stiffen enforcement of the restrictions. The clampdown came after last week's frigid temperatures caused leaks in the West Texas city's water distribution system that lowered the city's reservoir levels.
The city statement says those reservoirs have been replenished and the crisis appears to be easing. However, the statement urges residents to continue conserving water.
