Emergency Water Outage In Downtown Las Cruces

imagebase.net

Downtown Las Cruces residents and businesses may experience low water pressure, no water, or discolored water this afternoon, due to a water line being hit.

A contractor hit the water line earlier today, and crews are working to repair the service. The City’s Water section will install a valve to help prevent future disruptions in service.

This outage is expected to last until 4 p.m.

Affected customers currently include Firestone Complete Auto Care and the City of the Crosses religious store. Discolored water may appear due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and/or cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 526-0500 for assistance.
