Las Cruces, NM – Municipalities in New Mexico could lose the power to claim private land. That's if one of four different eminent domain bills passes the New Mexico legislature. Eminent domain allows cities and towns across the state to take over private land mainly for public use as long as they pay fair compensation. But as KRWG's Charles Winiecki reports, eminent domain has become a big issue after a Supreme Court decision revealed private land could be publicly taken for private economic gains.
