City of Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM - Esperanza Azteca Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will be performing a free concert on the Plaza de Las Cruces on Sunday, October 23 at 2:30 pm.

The group, made up of approximately 140 children ages 5 to 17 from Ciudad Juarez, will be performing "Sentimientos Mexicanos, a tribute to Juan Gabriel".

Under the direction of Guillermo Quezada Novela, the orchestra debuted in June 2011, delivering an outstanding performance that has led to their participation in various national and international cultural forums that include the International Festival of Chihuahua, along with performances in Los Angeles and San Diego, California.

Esperanza Azteca is a social project driven by Fundación Azteca with the purpose of promoting the personal growth of children and young Mexicans. Since 2009, Esperanza Azteca has reached more than 16,000 children through the teaching of music.  Its members have not only developed musical skills, but also values such as discipline, the pursuit of excellence, and teamwork.
