The City of Las Cruces Water Resources Department is working to replace an Out of Service fire hydrant on Fairway Drive. A temporary water outage will occur in the area on Thursday May 5, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The affected area will be Fairway Dr. from Covina to Don Roser Drive.
Crews will be working quickly to install the new fire hydrant and restore services as quickly as possible. Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the home for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities at 526-0500 for assistance.
