Family Rescued In Franklin Mountains

A family of five has been rescued after spending the night lost deep in Franklin Mountains State Park in West Texas.

The El Paso Fire Department says the two adults, three children and their three dogs began hiking Monday and got lost around nightfall. Fire spokesman George de la Torre says they wandered in the dark until they found a cellphone signal early Tuesday and called for help. Search teams assisted by a helicopter found the family and provided them with blankets, food and water.

None of them needed to be hospitalized.

The children are ages 9, 8 and 6.
