Family Sues Over Stun Gun Incident

The family of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly was Tased by a New Mexico motor transportation police officer in Tularosa has filed a lawsuit.

The Albuquerque Journal says the suit claims the boy blacked out after the incident at a school career fair in May.

The state Department of Public Safety officer contends his stun gun went off by accident while he was showing it to a group of students.

But the suit says the boy was Tased after making a joke. The officer received a three-day, unpaid suspension in connection with the incident.

According to the suit, the boy was Tased in the chest and the places where the barbs pierced his skin now look like cigarette burns.

The Journal says the lawsuit seeks compensation and punitive damages.
