Federal Funds For Airports

By KRWG News

New Mexico – The state of New Mexico and airports in Carlsbad and Silver City are getting federal funds to make improvements to their facilities and runways.

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., announced the money from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Wednesday. He said transportation infrastructure is crucial to attracting businesses and jobs to New Mexico.

Cavern City Air Terminal in Carlsbad and Grant County Airport in Silver City have been awarded $114,000 each. Both airports will use the money to remark runways to meet federal standards.

The State Aviation Division was awarded $95,000 to develop airport property maps at various general aviation airports throughout the state.
