Las Cruces – Dona Ana County's election supervisor has been appointed to the standards board of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
Bob Bartelsmeyer will serve on the board along with Secretary of State Mary Herrera.
Bartelsmeyer started his career as a clerk in Lawrence County, Miss., in 1979. Prior to coming to Dona Ana County, he lived in Florida, where he was the absentee ballot coordinator for Palm Beach County.
The board consists of 110 members, of which 55 are state officials selected by their respective chief state election official. The remaining 55 members are local election officials selected through a process supervised by the chief election official.
