Feds Cancel Classes In New Mexico For West African Delegates

state.gov

The U.S. State Department has confirmed that dozens of delegates from Ebola-affected countries in West Africa will not be coming to the International Law Enforcement Academy in southern New Mexico as planned.

The State Department, which runs the training center in Roswell, made the decision to defer invitations to the West Africans several weeks ago.

The Roswell Daily Record reports a total of 72 delegates from Liberia, Senegal and other countries were scheduled to arrive for four weeks of law enforcement classes beginning Nov. 24.

State Department spokesman Noel Clay says classes for Latin American officers will continue and the West African officers will be rescheduled next year.

The State Department administers five international law enforcement academies. The others are in Botswana, El Salvador, Hungary and Thailand.
