Feds Check On Sex Offenders For Halloween

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Federal marshals say if registered sex offenders answer their doorbells on Halloween night, they probably won't see trick-or-treaters.

The Marshals Service is teaming with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department and New Mexico Probation and Parole Office to conduct address verification, house checks and random patrols to monitor sex offenders in Las Cruces and Albuquerque on Halloween night.

U.S. Marshal Conrad Candelaria says Halloween night has special requirements and restrictions that sex offenders must comply with, and task force officers will be out to check on them.

Candelaria says the effort is aimed at making sure children are safe.
