Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with Western New Mexico University Special Assistant to the President for Cultural Affairs, Faye McCalmont. She says a first-time special event in Silver City at WNMU, Fiesta Latina, will be held Father’s Day weekend, June 16th to 18th. The Grant County Commissioners, through a proclamation presented to the WNMU Cultural Affairs Department, declared this Father’s Day weekend as “Fiesta Latina Weekend.”

McCalmont says Fiesta Latina is an event to celebrate a cultural connection with Mexico and WNMU, since “WNMU has a wonderful connection with many of the Universities and High Schools throughout Mexico.” She says this is a very family-oriented event. It will begin this evening through Sunday, Father’s Day on the campus of WNMU. For the schedule of events and more information, visit their website at www.FiestaLatina.org and on Facebook @FiestaLatinaWNMU.
