Fifth Annual Las Cruces Arts Fair Kicks Off

The Las Cruces Arts Fair is a juried fine art show that features around eighty artists from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The idea for a Las Cruces arts fair was conceived six years ago and its origin might come as a surprise for some.

Dona Ana Arts Council Executive Director Kathleen Albers tells the story of the two men who came up with the idea for a Las Cruces arts fair five years ago over a glass of wine and how they brought the idea to fruition.

The Las Cruces Arts Fair has grown and evolved since it first began in 2011. You’ll find everything from fiber art, jewelry, and photography…to ceramics, sculpture and even hand-crafted furniture.

Opening night festivities will include live music by Euterpe Flamenco Instrumental of Chihuahua, Mexico and live artist demonstrations will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Albers says the fair has become so successful, that many artists will approach the Dona Ana Arts Council asking to participate. She encourages the people of Las Cruces to come out and appreciate what the Fifth Annual Las Cruces Arts Fair has to offer.

The Fifth Annual Las Cruces Arts Fair opens tonight at 5 p.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center and continues Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $6 dollars per person and children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
