Las Cruces – The Las Cruces Fire Department extinguished a fire Sunday that destroyed a vacant duplex.
Firefighters were called to the Pioneer Mobile Home Park, located in the 2500-block of El Camino Real at 11:30 a.m.
Crews encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes.
The blaze destroyed the unoccupied structure which once served as a duplex apartment. The dollar value of the loss has not been determined.
The fire investigator declared the fire to be incendiary in nature. However, the origin and exact cause could not be determined because of the significant structural damage.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
