Five Doña Ana County Fugitives Captured In Statewide Warrant Round-Up

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the U.S. Marshals Southwest Fugitive Task Force assisted in apprehending five known fugitives in the county during a recent statewide warrant round-up known as Operation Desert Snow.

The five who were arrested were part of 24 fugitives who were caught during the operation, which enlisted local law enforcement personnel to assist in clearing high-risk felony warrants – many of which involved fugitives who were known to be armed and dangerous.

Giana Ramirez,  Moises Gallardo, Fernandez Ibarra, Richard Gutierrez and Tensley Neal were all taken into custody during Phase 2 of the operation, which encompassed Luna, Sierra, Otero, Lincoln and Doña Ana counties between Feb. 19 and Feb. 22.

Ramirez, who faces fraud charges, was transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center. Gallardo faces felony firearms charges and one count of failure to appear. He was also booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

The remaining detainees were transported elsewhere in the state to appear on other warrants and will be extradited to Doña Ana County to appear before a judge on local charges.

“Operation Desert Snow is another example of our commitment to assisting agencies like the U.S. Marshals Service to ensure our community is safe,” said Doña Ana County Sheriff Enrique “Kiki” Vigil. “If you’re a fugitive in our county trying to evade the law, we’re going to find you.”
