Five Fort Bliss Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

Five Fort Bliss soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division were killed this past weekend in Afghanistan.  A statement issued by Fort Bliss indicates the soldiers died as a result of a blast from an improvised explosive device.

The soldiers killed were: 1st Lt. Brandon J. Landrum; Staff Sgt. Francis Gene Phillips IV; Spc. Kevin Cardoza; Spc. Brandon Joseph Prescott; and Spc. Thomas Paige Murach.

In statement issued by e-mail,  Fort Bliss spokesman Maj. Joe Buccino, said, "Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of those affected by this tragedy as well as our soldiers in harm's way."
