Former GOP NM State Lawmaker Eyes Run For Congress

By KRWG News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former state Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones said Wednesday she's considering running for the Republican nomination in New Mexico's 1st Congressional District next year.

She says she's many people have urged her to run for various offices since Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman announced last month he will not seek re-election in 2012.

Arnold-Jones says most of the callers have asked her to run for Congress.

She's formed a fundraising committee and says she's testing the waters.

Arnold-Jones says she must find out whether she can raise the necessary financial resources and support.

The former four-term state lawmaker unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for governor last year.
