Michael Garcia pleaded guilty Thursday to five counts of Criminal Sexual Contact a Child. Each count is a 2nd degree felony, carrying a penalty of up to 15 years prison. He entered the guilty plea in District Court in Las Cruces, NM. Sentencing will be set at a later date.
Dona Ana County District Attorney Mark D'Antonio said that he was happy to secure convictions in this case which is so important to the victim, to the police, to the community, and to him.
Garcia is also pending sentencing on a case in United States District Court. That case also involved a sex crime against a child.
